His senses are still off, but when he sees the girl in the library he feels an instant connection. This girl is somehow connected to him and he has to have her. Has to take her back to his lair and find out why his soul cries out for her.

It's easy enough to take her, no one is watching and he just grabs her and leaves. He might have hit her too hard because she isn't screaming anymore. She isn't even crying. He drops her on the floor and listens for a heartbeat but there is none. He knows he's done wrong but he isn't sure exactly how.

He takes her to the cemetery where he somehow knows she now belongs. He digs the hole himself and carefully places her body at the bottom. Now he'll never know why he felt so connected to her.
