The backstory: My darling Gabrielle (Y'all know how much I adore her, right?) wrote a drabble which you can find here and on her LJ. I read it and was moved by some mystic force to continue it. It brought up some issues I'd considered before, but hadn't put together until now.


He downed another bottle of Jack and tried to pick out exactly what it was about the girl that he loved so much. His brain was too fuzzy to come up with anything specific, so he tried to remember what had made him first want his dark princess so badly. He couldn't pinpoint anything there either. When he'd first met both women, he was attracted to them, but there wasn't the desperate need for their love like he had acquired later. They weren't even alike at all, so looking for similarities didn't help.

Well, they did have one thing in common. They'd both been Angel's.

And that was one thing he'd never be. No matter how…

The whiskey finally took over, bringing him gently into the blessed realm of nothingness.
