But it has to be spring, and you have to be in love--acutely, painfully, achingly in love…
~ Dorianne Laux // The Orgasms of Organisms

Spike couldn't take his eyes off of them. They didn't know he was there - or he hoped they didn't. If they had done this knowing he'd be…

Walking back into the almost rays of dawn, he fished a cigarette out of his pocket and took his time lighting it.

Trying to drive the images of his dark princess lying with her sire out of his head, he focused instead on the sounds of the birds as they awoke to begin the day. Focused on the smell of the hyacinths just breaking through the surface of the dark earth. Concentrated on the sounds of Mother Earth coming back to life in the cool April air.

He heard Darla call for her 'dear boy' and knew the coast would be clear soon for him to return. It was useless to hope that Drusilla would arise and wash the signs of Angelus' passion from her body.

He saw two rabbits hopping playfully through the grass and knew that it was Spring. And in Spring, everything falls in love again. Sometimes acutely, painfully, achingly in love…
