She was slumped over a book, fast asleep. The others were patrolling, now was his chance. Giles let his fingers slide through her shining copper hair. It was as soft as he had imagined it would be.

If only he could get the courage to tell her. But it was hopeless; she would never fall in love with someone like him. She didn't think of him that way; she'd never see the man he wanted her to see.

As his hand touched her shoulder, she murmured in her sleep, "Mmm, Giles, feels good."

Maybe there was a chance after all.
